Gold has been in skincare for a very long time, which is exactly why it invites suspicion. Anything sold on the strength of Cleopatra tends to be sold on story rather than substance.
So it is worth separating the two. There is a real reason gold ended up in professional treatment rooms, and there is also a clear limit to what it does.
Gold is inert. It does not oxidize, it does not react with the skin, and it does not break down into anything irritating. For a material sitting on skin that is already reactive, that matters more than it sounds.
Most actives work by provoking a response. Acids dissolve bonds between cells. Retinoids push turnover. Both are effective and both come with a cost in tolerance. Gold sits at the other end of that scale, which is why it suits skin that cannot take an aggressive approach.
Three effects are consistent enough to build a treatment around.
There is a fourth effect that gets less attention and is arguably the most useful of the four. Gold improves how well everything else in the treatment performs. The peptides and hyaluronic acid applied alongside it do more than they would on their own. In practice the gold is as much a delivery advantage as an active in its own right.

The treatment runs somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half, and it follows the same shape every time.
Skin is cleansed first. Thin sheets of pure gold are then placed across the face and worked in. A serum follows, chosen to take advantage of the improved absorption, and the session finishes with a massage that carries the circulation benefit further than the gold does on its own.
Nothing is required of you beforehand. Afterwards, leave makeup and other products off for a few hours so the skin keeps working on what has just been put into it. That is the whole aftercare.
Our full 24K gold facial page covers the treatment itself in more detail.
This is the part most articles skip, and it is the part worth reading.
A gold facial is not a resurfacing treatment. It does not remove a layer of skin, so it will not clear the textural damage that needs something abrasive or acidic. If your concern is pitted scarring or a rough surface that has built up over years, this is not the treatment that fixes it. A chemical peel works at a depth gold does not reach, and what to settle before a first peel covers what that involves.
It is also not a pigmentation treatment. Skin tone often looks more even afterwards, but that is the circulation and the calming effect at work, not the pigment itself lifting. Established dark patches need a protocol built for them, whether that is sun damage and age spots or melasma, which behave differently and are treated differently.
And it does not replace collagen you have already lost. It slows the loss and it supports what is there, so it is not the answer to established fine lines and wrinkles on its own. Rebuilding structure is a different job, handled by needling or by radiofrequency. Needling asks a great deal more of your skin in return, which is why the week afterwards matters as much as the session itself.
Read that as a limitation if you like. We read it as the reason gold belongs in a course of treatment rather than standing in for one.
Skin that is reactive, easily flushed, or simply tired of being treated aggressively. If the flushing is persistent rather than occasional, rosacea and facial redness is worth reading first, because that needs a plan of its own. Skin in the maintenance phase, where the goal is holding ground rather than making a correction. And anyone whose barrier has taken a beating from over-exfoliation, where the honest answer is to stop stripping and start supporting.
It also suits the week before something that matters, because the result is immediate and there is nothing to recover from.

Gold sits on and works at the surface and upper layers. The value is in what happens there, the calming, the circulation, and the improved performance of everything applied with it. Treatments that claim to drive metal deep into living tissue are describing something that does not happen.
The visible glow lasts several days. The structural benefit, the collagen support, builds only with repetition and fades if you stop. That is true of almost every non-surgical treatment and gold is no exception.
If you judge it against a resurfacing treatment, you will be disappointed, because it is doing a different job. Judged as what it is, a calming and supporting treatment with an immediate visible result and no recovery, it earns its place. What it should not be is your only treatment.
Sensitive skin is one of the situations it suits best, for the reason at the top of this article. Gold does not provoke. Tell us what your skin reacts to at the consultation and we will build around it.
Gold is not a miracle and we are not going to sell it as one. It is a well tolerated treatment that calms skin, supports collagen, improves circulation and makes everything applied with it work harder. For the right skin, at the right point in a plan, that is genuinely valuable.
Book a consultation and we will tell you honestly whether gold is the treatment your skin needs right now, or whether something else should come first. You can also look through everything we offer if you would rather see the full picture.
