What Glow Actually Is, and How You Get It

Glow is not a mysterious quality some people have. It is light behaving predictably. When the surface of your skin is smooth and holding water, light hits it and reflects back evenly, and that is what reads to the eye as radiance. When dead cells have built up on the surface, that layer is rough and uneven, so light scatters instead of reflecting. Skin looks flat, grey, tired. Nothing is wrong with it. It just has a layer on it that is in the way.

Cell turnover also slows as you get older, which means that layer sits there longer than it used to. It is why the same skin that looked bright in your twenties looks dull in your forties on the same routine.

A glow facial deals with both halves of the problem. The build-up is lifted away, then the fresh surface underneath is fed and hydrated so it stays smooth rather than tightening up again. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the effect is immediate and visible rather than something you have to imagine.

Preparation & Aftercare

Before Your Visit

Book a few days ahead, not the morning of. Skin needs a little time to settle and look its best. Same-day is the most common mistake people make with this treatment.
If it is your first time with us, come earlier. For a wedding or anything that matters, have one well in advance so we both know how your skin responds.
Pause acids and retinoids beforehand. A few days off means we can exfoliate properly rather than working around already-sensitised skin.
No fake tan. Exfoliation will take it off unevenly. Tan afterwards, not before.
Tell us about any recent treatments. Peels, laser or waxing in the last couple of weeks change what we can do safely.

What to Expect

We look at your skin first and check the timing against whatever you are getting ready for, because that matters more than people expect. Your licensed esthetician clears the dull surface layer, rebuilds hydration, and finishes with protection. You see the difference the same day, and it improves further over the following days as everything settles.

Aftercare

Sunscreen daily, without exception. Freshly exfoliated skin burns more easily.
Leave actives out for a day or two, then bring them back one at a time.
Keep the hydration going. Glow fades fastest on skin that dries out.
If you are tanning, do it after the facial rather than before.

Recovery & Results

Expect little to no downtime. Depending on how much exfoliation your skin needed there may be some flushing for an hour or two, and it settles the same day. The result is immediate and then improves slightly over the following days, which is exactly why booking a few days ahead of an event beats booking the morning of it. The glow itself lasts a matter of weeks rather than months, so if you want it as a standing thing, treat it as maintenance rather than a one-off.

When should I book it before a wedding or event?

Will I see a difference straight away?

Yes, and that is the point of this particular facial. Clearing the dull surface layer changes how light reflects off your skin immediately. It then looks slightly better again over the next few days once everything settles.

How long does the glow last?

Weeks rather than months. Your skin keeps making new cells and building up a new surface layer, so the effect is not permanent by nature. If you want it consistently, treat it as regular maintenance. We will suggest a realistic interval once we have seen your skin.

How is this different from the Gold Facial?

The Gold Facial is a named luxury treatment built around 24K gold with its own actives, and it is the more indulgent experience. This is the practical brightening facial: you have an event, your skin looks flat, and you want it fixed. At your consultation we will tell you which suits your skin and your reason for coming.

Will it help with dark spots or acne scars?

Not meaningfully. Brightening the surface makes uneven tone look a little less obvious, but pigmentation sits deeper than this treatment reaches and scarring is textural. Both need something targeted, and we will point you to the right page rather than sell you a course of these.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Usually, with the exfoliation adjusted. Tell us at the consultation if your skin flushes easily or reacts to products, and if your skin is currently irritated we will suggest a hydrating facial first and this one once it has calmed.
